Large Diameter Carbon Fiber Tubes
Large diameter carbon fiber tubes are used for a wide variety of applications including audio equipment, x-ray imaging, robotics, telescopes, and metrology. Kumair has the ability to manufacture large carbon fiber tubes up to 24" diameter and 48" length. In addition, foam or honeycomb cores can be added into the wall to increase local rigidity and damage tolerance.
Weave Options for Large Diameter Carbon Fiber Tubes
An array of different weave patterns and ply thicknesses are available to help us optimize large diameter carbon fiber tubes for your application. One example shown above is the production of carbon fiber speaker enclosures. Whereas most carbon fiber used in speaker cabinets is only a thin veneer over a wood or MDF substrate, Kumair manufactures solid carbon fiber speaker enclosures using a combination of large diameter tubes and thick carbon fiber plates. In this case the tubes are about 1/8" thick, while the plates are 1/4" and 3/8" thick. This creates an acoustic system with the highest stiffness to weight ratio of any on the market, offering excellent range and clarity.
In addition, a matte spray clear is available along with weaves incorporating color highlights, for example, blue, red, orange, and yellow threads. This can give your product a unique look.
