Industries and Applications for Carbon Fiber

Carbon Fiber Electronics Enclosures

Carbon fiber is an excellent material for both military and civilian electronics enclosures. These include rack mounted systems, shock-isolated enclosures, and project-specific custom electronics mounts and boxes. At half the density of aluminum, the utilization of carbon fiber can reduce case and support structure weight considerably. Developed by Kumair, metal core composites, such as Magnesium and Titanium core carbon fiber, substantially increase impact toughness, while maintaining most of the weight savings of a solid carbon fiber design.

Carbon Fiber for Medical Imaging and X-Ray Applications

Due to its transparency to x-rays, carbon fiber is a common material used in medical imaging, scientific equipment, and military x-ray and gamma ray applications. Carbon fiber x-ray panels substantially reduce system weight, which is important for portable systems.

Carbon Fiber Robotics and Industrial Automation

Carbon fiber is an excellent option for many robotics and industrial automation applications. Carbon fiber end-of-arm tooling can solve the weight and vibration challenges associated with aluminum and steel assemblies.

Carbon Fiber Audio Equipment

Carbon fiber is used across a wide variety of audio equipment. Kumair has experience developing carbon fiber composite parts for turntables and speakers.

Carbon Fiber Metrology and Scientific Equipment

Due to its low coefficient of thermal expansion, carbon fiber is an ideal material for many metrology and scientific equipment applications. Carbon fiber metrology equipment also have the benefits of high stiffness and low mass, which means much higher natural frequency than comparable metal mounting plates, tubes, or other assemblies.
