Ecokühl AirCycle Home Ventilation System

Ecokühl Technologies developed a new ventilation product that mounts in a sliding glass door and helps to cool off a warm house or apartment at the end of the day by drawing cooler air in through the windows. Kumair engineers helped Ecokühl by performing a CFD study on the airflow ducting for the unit. Unsteady, time-accurate CFD analyses were run using the commercial software Star-CCM+. This captured the complex flow path through the cross-flow fan and surrounding housing, critical to the design.

The results of the study led to design optimizations which improved the airflow rate and smoothness, and reduced both noise and power consumption. With a turnaround time of only a few weeks for this CFD study, Ecokühl was able to stay on schedule and start manufacturing and selling the units quickly.
